Alta Oben, a Summit Place veteran since 2013, spent 12 years of her career as an intelligence analyst with the CIA, and then as a contractor Computer Systems Analyst for 24 years providing critical insights to support U.S. interests. One memory she recants “I fired two different model tanks at the Army Armor School!” Her work & travels have taken her across the globe, with travel in Oman, Egypt, and Jordan. Outside of her business travel, South Africa have become a favorite while visiting a sorority sister and her family. It’s where her love of giraffes blossomed. She has a vast collection of over 100 giraffes, the largest is 7 feet tall! Tracing her ancestors in Sweden, Scotland, Canada, Austria and New Zealand kept her busy with extensive pleasure travel. Alta shared that in her younger years, she took some time off to be a “ski bum”. She lived in Aspen, Colorado and worked as the desk clerk at the Boomerang Lodge. Her leave of absence from work sparked a “pregnancy rumor” back in the day; a false rumor! Alta is an only child, never married and has no human children. However, her Calico/Persian cat Callie plays an important role of her daily life.
Alta shared this about Summit Place: “Many of my fellow residents have become like family to me. My favorite amenity is the warm water pool I use almost every morning!
